Scylla is a collection of work dedicated to the female form. Come get a healthy eyeful of sultry sirens and buxom bombshells passionately crafted by true admirers. This show is the latest installment from Dim Media artists Joe Lipscomb, Ivy Sendrijas, Charles Denton and Blaine Garrett. The Scylla exhibit will be up from July 10th to July 31st at Java J’s Cafe in Minneapolis.

The opening reception features musical guest Jamez Smith, “Vibe Genie”. This reception is free and open to the public, opening at 7pm.

Dim Media is an aggressively collaborative group of four artists who express vivid ideas through paintings, comics, podcasts, books and any media that brings ideas out of the realm of illusion and into conscious reality. This is what happens when collaborators stop playing nice and start flinging paint.

Starkiller’s New Hope is a collection of work in a variety of styles derived from a certain 6 part space opera. The artists involved include Joe Lipscomb, Ivy Sendrijas, Charles Denton and Blaine Garrett of Dim Media, Jacob Alexander, Matt Eng, Brian Priefer and Cassie Garner. Expect a wide variety of work ranging from abstract distortions to vivid painterly concept artwork. The exhibit will be up from June 13 until July 7th at Karnak Gallery above the Ugly Mug downtown Minneapolis.

Opening Reception June 18th. Featuring musical guest “Mechanical Hand for a Quarter” performing Staw Rar Christmas Special, a musical collage of samples from Star Wars related media. This reception is free and open to the public, from 6:00 pm until 8:30pm.

Starkiller’s New Hope post-reception will be followed by a musical event Videodrome: Star Wars Edition featuring Solvent, The Claps, Memoire and DJ F@ckstorm. This event is $10 and begins at 9:00 pm, also at Karnak Gallery.

“Star Wars is both an inspiration and an artistic hindrance. It’s brutally difficult to draw a fantastic creature, a space ship, or a robot without in someway invoking a Star Wars reference.” Joe Lipscomb, artist and curator at Karnak Gallery.

Dim Media is going to be camping out for the 21st annual Spring Con – one of the larger comic book conventions in the Midwest – May 15th/16th 10am – 5pm.

Dim Media will be premiering their latest installment of the Coffee Crumbs – Issue 4 “The Conglomerate” featuring an extra jam packed apocalyptic story written and illustrated by Dim’s own Charles Denton and Blaine Garrett. There will also be compiled volumes of Charles’ Ninth Hero and Blaine’s Surplus Bio-Freaks comics for sale. We will also have all new prints of sweet Dim visuals for sale and prints of your old favorites.

Come check it out. Come hang out with us. Draw. Get some Dim swag and gawk at all the sweet fellow comic nerds.

DIM Media will have a booth that this year’s annual Twin Cities Zine Fest. We’ll be presenting our revamped Coffee Crumbs zine featuring all new artwork, stories, and poetry. Read on for more details…

Since 2004, the Twin Cities Zinefest has welcomed creatives, rebels, musicians and frustrated intellectuals to connect, create and share ideas. As the area’s premiere DIY craft, culture and self-publishing event, Zinefest often features an art show, live music, craft demonstrations, guest speakers and panel discussions. Most importantly, Zinefest plays host to some of the Midwest’s best self-made talent.

Birthmarks @ 2nd Moon Through April

Dim Media will be exhibiting their latest series “Birthmarks” at 2nd Moon Coffee shop on Franklin Ave in Minneapolis from March 1st through April 30th. Come check out the series if you have not seen it yet and grab some delicious coffee.

“Birthmarks” is Dim Media’s premier non-representational abstract
series. Denying their popular aesthetic of stylized subject matter, Dim Media’s
artist ensemble instead emulated the textures, pallets, and patterns of
naturally occurring abstract imagery. This series references geometric reptilian
skin, sedimentary mudslides, and the alien visuals of microscopic cells.

The process for creating “Birthmarks” was aggressively collaborative.
Four artists worked on multiple paintings simultaneously, painting over each
other’s brush strokes as they alternated from canvas to canvas. After many
layers of paint, the finished paintings succeed in creating ambiguity between
the individual’s marks and cohesion between the collective marks.

DIMMedia will be showing select pieces from the Wizards, Blasphemers, and Æthernauts series, the Paparazzi series, and the Mer* series. Come check out new original paintings of Terrence Mckenna and Tim Leary and old favorites like Steve Buscemi in all his glory.

Come opening night Saturday, Jan 9th from 8-10PM and enjoy open vodka bar. Otherwise, check out the sweet club and enjoy our artwork anytime Jan 1st – Jan 30th Feb 28th. The sweet lighting system will blow out your ear drums and melt your exploded face hole. Epic.

DIMMedia is at it again. This time we’re working with Jacob Alexander of Virtual Warrior Ink to help create the visual styles of the lost city of Atlantis at Gallery 13. Join us along with Minneapolis video artist Lindsey Borgerson, Twin Cities Fashion Designer Laura Faulk, New York Artist Oni Sakti, and others.

Expect the unexpected. Live video projections of Poseidon (The ocean/coral reef/etc) and live nude models (The Ink Girls) will be transformed into Living Mermaids in front of your eyes. This is a chance to witness the creative process of art in all its glory. Hair Styling, Makeup Artistry, Modeling, Photography & Body-Painting and of course including the featured artworks.
